Minecraft is a limitless adventure game that falls to the category of sandbox games. Unlike other games that give you a goal to achieve, Minecraft allows you to decide the goal. Its activities range from solving simple puzzles to gathering an army and going to a battle that saves kingdoms.
Since there are farms, lands and your belongings to protect in Minecraft, having fences is important. These fences, built around your properties or whatever is yours, will ensure their protection. It will also keep you from wild animals and enemies who look forward to attacking at night time. You need to build the fences in the game at places you need it and there are ways to fix its parts together and form different types of fences.
Gathering the Materials:
You will need the following material to build your fence:
- 4 Wood Planks: You may use any type of wood planks such as Acacia, Oak, Spruce, Birch, etc. to create a fence. But make sure you gather the same type of material and not ones different from each other. You can get them by chopping them from the correct trees in the Survival Mode.
- 2 Sticks: Sticks can be found by breaking down wood blocks or harvesting them from saplings.
Crafting the Fence:
There are 2 approaches to craft a fence. You can use either set of steps from the below options, whichever is easier for you:
- Crafting Table: First open your crafting table and make sure you have a 3×3 crafting grid to work in. Fill the first column with 2 wood planks, then the second column with 2 sticks and the last column with the other 2 wood planks. Leave the last column empty. Now you should be able to see the 3 wood fence on the right hand side box. Now move your fence block to the inventory. Your fence is all set.
- Inventory Crafting: Open your inventory and place 1 wood block in a square. Now drag to get 4. Redo this dragging action until you have all the wood planks you need for your fence. Now do the same with the sticks and get all the sticks you need to create the same fence. Then return to your crafting table and place the ingredients as 2 planks, 2 sticks and 2 planks in each column leaving the last row blank. This will create a fence the same way as before.
Building Your Fence:
The fence block you crafted so far can be used to build your fence. You have to carefully place the block where you need it. Here are some guidelines that will help you to create a perfect fence:
- Select the fence block: First select the fence block from your inventory and get it to your Hotbar. Now go to the area where you need to place the fence.
- Right-click to place: Target the area that you need to place the fence and right click along the length of it. Once that is done, click on the left trigger button.
- Joining the blocks: When you place the first block, you will notice that the individual posts are left unchanged. To connect these with the adjoining posts, click right next to it to place another block. Now you should be able to see that the blocks are linking to each other.
- Repeat to create a fence line: If you want to repeat the fencing to another location, you can simply repeat the steps since you go the block to the Hotbar until you complete the fence.
- Creating a corner: To create a corner in the fence you are lying. Change the direction of your placement. This action will automatically create a linked corner in your fence.
Additional Tips and Tricks:
Different Wood Types:
The wood type you choose for the fence will make a change in their appearance.
- If you go for an Oak fence it will look natural brown and is the standard fence used for construction and farm protection.
- The wood type Spruce will look a dark brown with a touch of rust and is ideal for significant buildings.
- Birch has the lightest brown color. It can be used to highlight some parts of darker builds.
- If you want your fence to look more tropical and inspiring, use the Jungle wood. It has a reddish-brown color that gives your build a genuine natural touch.
Connecting Fences:
The fence blocks that you bring form the inventory to your field needs to be connected with each other to ensure strength. This can be done by the careful placement of these units close to each other. Their corner posts should merge with each other to be connected. Minecraft automatically detects it. But still you need to be careful to leave no space between them too.
Gates:
To place a gate, you need to break a part of the fence where you need to place the gate at. However, if you have left space for the gate while you built the fence, this demolition is not necessary. To create the gate, you should return to your crafting table. Now place the arrangement 2 sticks, 2 planks and 2 sticks on each following column leaving the last row blank. Pick the gate from the inventory on your Hotbar and go to the field. Face the gate opening and place the gate with a right click. Then face the gate and press the left button. Now you are all set to have your fence and the gate.
